Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Some individuals with eating disorders like Anorexia, Bulimia or Compulsive Overeating also suffer from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a medical disorder that throws the individual's hormones out of balance. PCOS affects 10 percent of woman, with onset usually during the teen years. Symptoms of the disorder include:
- Weight gain
- Trouble losing weight
- Binge eating
- Acne
- Excessive hair growth on face and body
- Thinning hair and hair loss on scalp
- Irregular, heavy or absent periods
- Infertility
